TITLE: Solid Waste Recycling Coordinator (Position # PW0025)
LOCATION: Gaston County Public Works Department/Solid Waste Division, Hardin Road Landfill-Dallas, NC 28034
PAY SCALE: $15.67-$24.29 per hour (Non-exempt/Eligible for overtime)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
a. Analyzes various private and governmental administrative and operating problems associated with the management of recyclable solid waste; serves as the County's administrative and technical liaison for solid waste recycling efforts; serves as the County's liaison with municipal recycling efforts, clean city programs, and other county Adopt-A-Highway programs.
b. Prepares and maintains various written, statistical, and budgetary reports.
c. Responds to requests for solid waste information from the general public, vendors, and governmental officials by making on-site visits, performing public speaking engagements, and preparing informational reports on issues related to recycling of solid waste.
d. Compiles and prepares annual recycling budgetary recommendations including needs assessment, proposals for marketing efforts, sales, equipment, staffing, and related budget needs; prepares projections of budgetary needs.
e. Prepares drafts of technical specifications for the purchase of mechanical equipment utilized in recycling efforts.
f. Promotes awareness and use of recycling efforts in the community through preparation of news articles, public speaking, educational events, newsletters, and other promotional materials.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of one year of experience in the implementation and management of a solid waste recycling program. Prior experience in a supervisory capacity is desired. Applicants who do not have the experience required may be considered for a Trainee appointment. The candidate selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
