N.C. DPPEA is pleased to release the request for proposals for the 2009 Community Waste Reduction and Recycling Grants. The CWRAR grant round is open to all North Carolina local governments, solid waste authorities and councils of government seeking to expand or implement new waste reduction and recycling projects in the state. Not for Profit agencies are no longer eligible for funding under this grant round.
School recycling projects will be eligible if the application is done in coordination with the local government solid waste office. Find your local solid waste contact here. Individual school applications will not be accepted.

The standard award has a maximum of $25,000 and requires a cash match of 20% and the large purchase award has a maximum of $40,000 and is only available for projects with a total budget of $50,000 or more. Proposals are due by 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 13, 2009 and preliminary awards should be announced in mid-March, 2009.
