N.C. Recycling Business Assistance Center Newsletter

Do you get the N.C. Recycling Business Assistance Center e-newsletter? Check out the cool things my RBAC co-workers are doing below.

Plastic recycling, again, makes our headlines! A joint venture will locate a new plastic bottle recycling facility in Fayetteville, creating more than 100 new jobs. The recent statewide plastic bottle landfill ban was cited as one of the reasons to locate in N.C. This facility will have the capacity to accept one out of every five bottles collected in the U.S.

Three articles in this issue highlight the accomplishments and growth of the carpet recycling industry in N.C.
- Blue Ridge Recycling offers a "Certificate of Recycling" to recognize carpet recovery efforts. Currently, Blue Ridge recycles about 600,000 pounds of carpet per month. A planned facility upgrade will divert up to 2.4 million pounds per month.
- UNC - Charlotte, Flooring Solutions Inc., and Blue Ridge Recycling partner to close the recycling loop.
- DC Foam advances carpet recycling in N.C. through new technique to process and market nylon 66.

The Recycling Works e-newsletter will now provide quarterly pricing trend graphs for major recycling commodities. This new tool will help users research the impact of recent economic trends on commodity prices over a longer period of time.
