Elmer’s Glue Crew Recycling Program

Guest blogger – Keep America Beautiful of New Hanover County

There are millions of glue sticks and glue bottles that end up in landfills every year, contributing to the ever-increasing concern over sustainability. As such, the Elmer’s Glue Crew Recycling Program is partnering with TerraCycle to provide teachers with another method to keep these materials out of landfills.

Through this innovative program, people will be able to collect empty Elmer’s glue sticks and glue bottles; once they can fill a box with them, they can ship the box to TerraCycle. As an eco-friendly leader, TerraCycle will upcycle the plastic from Elmer’s products into innovative new products!

The Elmer’s Glue Crew Brigade is open to Elmer’s Glue Crew Recycling Program members. Not a member yet, or want more information? Go to ElmersGlueCrew.com to register.

Once you participate in an Elmer’s Glue Crew Brigade, TerraCycle will donate 2 cents to the school of your choice for each item collected. If you don’t have a charity in mind, you can select a default school and it will benefit from your green-minded deed.

This program is entirely free – participants can download pre-paid shipping labels directly from their Web site and affix them to their own boxes before sending them in. There are no sign-up or participation fees.

*Please note that there are a limited number of shipments allowed from each location. Once the limit has been reached, users will no longer be able to print free shipping labels to send in their materials. Remember, you can still keep empty bottles and sticks from landfills by returning them to Walmart between Earth Day (April 22) and the end of your school year, as part of the original Elmer’s Glue Crew Recycling Program.
