What: Asheville Earth Day Celebration
When: Saturday, April 17, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. for festival. Recycling collection event from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
Where: Downtown Asheville at MLK Jr. Park for festival. Recycling collection event at Asheville Public Works building (161 South Charlotte St.).
Description: The event will feature non-profits, green vendors, craft vending and food vending from local and regional vendors as well as some national and regional musicians.

What: Garner Second Annual Technology Spring Clean
When: Saturday, April 17, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Where: 651 Heather Park Drive, Garner
Description: WingSwept, a Garner based technology services provider, is holding the spring clean event to allow businesses or consumers the opportunity to bring in unwanted computer technology items, drop them off for free and avoid harmful materials from going to landfills. Computers/CPUs, UPS, printers, monitors, copiers, keyboards, mice, circuit boards, mainframes, hard drives and phone systems will all be accepted for drop-off. All hard drives will be removed from the computers and securely shredded prior to recycling. WingSwept is donating this as a service to the community to allow businesses or individuals concerned about sensitive data peace of mind knowing that their data will be secure.

Where: Johnston Community College Arboretum campus in Smithfield
Description: The Johnston County Arts Council in partnership with Johnston Community College Arboretum, will hold its first Celebrate the Earth Festival. The festival includes the Annual Plant Sale-A-Bration and the kick-off event for Johnston County Reads. Johnston County Reads will focus on the environmental novel, Silent Spring by Rachael Carson.
