Description:
This position is responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of the residential, commercial, institutional, recreational, and construction sector recycling programs. You will provide leadership for sustainable practice efforts throughout the County to waste generators, other local governments, and within our own government to assist with implementing the County's comprehensive waste management plan while ensuring compliance with environmental legislation to meet goals. This position develops and manages environmental strategies, budgets, policies and programs that foster countywide sustainable behavior and conservation actions in the areas of: source reduction, reuse, composting, recycling, hazardous and special waste, and buying recycled/Environmentally Preferable Practices (EPP).
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Environmental Sciences, Public Administration or related field, supplemented with eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible professional experience with a minimum of two (2) years supervisory or managerial experience. Must have ability to deal with conflict situation in a judicious and tactful manner; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including public speaking and preparation of written reports.
Valid S.C. driver's license is required.
