What’s up on Twitter

In this week before Earth Day, there were a lot of tweets about Earth Day events throughout the state.

The top E-Waste event on Twitter was sponsored by @WingSwept, a tech company based in Garner, that held its second annual E-Waste event on the April 17. Learn more: http://www.wingswept.com/wci/about/recycle.html.

@NRFOnslow tweeted about Target’s latest recycling initiatives: “As if 1 needed 1 more reason 2 go 2 Target! Target opens recycling centers in front of all 1,740 U.S. stores! http://bit.ly/ahfI67

@Ecochickie tweeted about a company called Green Spun, which is based in Gastonia. Apparently Green Spun makes fabric out of plastic bottles and other recyclables.

@Ecochickie also said that N.C. was the top supplier of denim in the world. Anybody know anything about this claim or about Green Spun?

And @ForrestSloan, visiting from San Francisco, gave a shout out to one of my favorite restaurants in Carrboro: Elmo’s. “Repurpose vs recycle: Coke bottle transformed from 8oz of corn syrup to a maple syrup pitcher at Elmos NC http://yfrog.com/ed52613303j
