What: Schiele’s 20th Anniversary of Earth Day: Earth, Wind, Fire, Water, Heart
When: Friday, April 23 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Saturday, April 24 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Where: Schiele Museums Nature Trail, Gastonia
Description: Earth Night on Friday, April 23 will include live music and local food. A traditional Earth Day event takes place on Saturday, April 24 on the Schiele Museum’s Nature Trail, complete with a special parade to kick off the event at 10:30 a.m.

Where: 760 Orphanage Rd, Shuttle service from the Farmer’s Market
Description: Recycling of eye glasses, plastic bags, cell phones, athletic shoes, medications, electronics, plastic pill bottles and compact florescent bulbs will take place. Five live bands will be performing throughout the day.

What: Wake County Landfill Tours
When: Saturday, April 24 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Reservation required
Where: South Wake Solid Waste Management Facility, 6130 Old Smithfield Road, Apex
Description: In recognition of Earth Day, Wake County citizens are invited to attend a free, 45-minute tour of the landfill. Visitors will learn about the county’s recycling and disposal opportunities and what happens to items after they are collected. Tours will start on the hour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 856-6006 or online at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2R7DZX6 by Friday, April 16.
