Survey Results: CVP Recycling Coordinator Survey – April 2008

Recycling programs across the country report that they are doing their best to ride out the economic storm, and most tell us that participation remains steady. According to an online survey conducted by the Curbside Value Partnership, a Keep America Beautiful program, communities are adapting their recycling programs in different ways to cope with the economic crisis to ensure that recycling participation does not decrease.

The survey was administered via the online service SurveyMonkey.com to CVP’s database of more than 4,000 contacts in the recycling profession.

- 69% of respondents say their recycling program has been impacted by the current economic crisis
- 59% of respondents say that although their programs have been affected by the crisis, participation is about the same
- 60% of respondents say their community’s recycling program has NOT experienced budget cuts
- 44% of respondents are maximizing their program’s budget by postponing program enhancements or recycling infrastructure projects

Tell us, how has the economy has affected your job?
