Recycle Instead

This spring N.C. will get plastered with “Recycle Instead” decals. 600,000 decals reminding people that aluminum cans and plastic bottles are banned from landfill disposal will be placed on trash cans throughout the state. Thirty-seven local governments partnered with the N.C. Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance, the Association of Postconsumer Plastics Recyclers and Duke Energy to fund the purchase of the decals.

The largest local government partner was the city of Raleigh who shared in the purchase of 110,000 decals to put on all its residential trash carts. Other large local government partners include: Fayetteville, Wilmington, Charlotte, Orange County and Currituck County. Enough decals were purchased to give all N.C. local governments a supply of free decals. The main distribution will occur at the Carolina Recycling Association conference in March. In addition, universities, businesses, athletic venues, public schools, malls, etc. are all able to receive decals while supplies last. Just contact RE3.org@gmail.com.
